Supreme Court appointee, Bret Kavanaugh has been accused of sexual assault by Christine Blasey Ford, a California liberal political activist. She said that it happened when they were high school kids, but she can’t remember the year. It happened, she says at a beer party at a house, but she can’t remember which house or where it was. She says there were four or five other people at the party, but she does not remember who they were, except she is sure that Kavanaugh and his friend, Mark Judge, were there.
Ford should either prove her allegations against Kavanaugh or her allegations should be ignored. She now says she won’t show up to testify in a senate committee, unless she approves of the way the inquiry is conducted. We knew she would want everything to be set up in her favor or she would not appear at all. Lying, under oath, to Congress is a serious crime.
The Dems thought the charges would be made and Kavanaugh would withdraw his nomination, and Ford would not have to prove her charges. But Kavanaugh is not interested in withdrawing his nomination.
There are too many questions about Ford’s accusations for reasonable people to take them seriously. I don’t believe the story at all. I think the whole thing was “made up.” From beginning to end, it was made up for political reasons! Republican Senators feel a need to treat Ford with kid gloves, following the Dem’s demands that she should not be questioned but simply believed. But regular citizens, like you and I, do not have to treat her with kid gloves or simply believe her. The stakes are too high for that kind of Polly-Anna behavior. We are dealing with a potential Justice for the Supreme Court! The nominee should not be rejected by an unproved allegation by an accuser whom the nominee has not been able to face!S
So, what are some questions that should be asked? (1.) Where is this house where Ford claims that this incident happened? Who owned the house? How did you four people happen to be there having a beer party? (2.) Who was the fourth person that Ford says was in the house? Has this fourth person been questioned? Does he/she say Kavanaugh was there, drunk? (3.) Why is Mark Judge, the third person that Ford says was in the room, not being taken more seriously when he says that the entire story is false? (4.) Why did Ford tell her therapist that she was attacked by four boys and then later say that that was the same incident when she was attacked by Kavanaugh? Obviously it was not the same incident that she is now alleging, and what kind of “therapist” could get such important details wrong? (5.) Why did Ford get a polygraph test done? Who did the test? How many tests did she have done? What questions were asked on the test? Did she fail any tests, and is she touting only the test that she says that she passed while failing to mention the ones she failed? Would she be willing to take a polygraph by a good competent unbiased tester? And very importantly, if Kavanaugh took a polygraph and passed it, would that satisfy Ford and the Dems? If not, why should anyone think that her polygraph should be taken seriously?
The Senate should get on with the business of confirming Kavanaugh to the SCOTUS. One person should not be able to shut down our government over an unproved allegation that has nothing to do with the appointee’s qualifications or ability to serve.
