Verses 22-25 “22And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
Jesus instituted His supper, intending that His local churches would always observe it until He returns to catch away His bride, the Church. In this supper much is made of the blood of Jesus. We should always make much of His blood, because without His bleeding there would be no salvation for sinners. “Without shedding of blood there is no remission” (Heb 9:22). Sinners may be saved today only because Jesus shed His blood in His death.
