Verses 1-2 “1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
2But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.”
Jesus had no lack of enemies. His enemies were bloodthirsty, intending to kill Him. Do we think that we can be without enemies if we will only treat people right? Such a thought is only a pipe dream. Of course, we should treat people right, not so we can be loved by everyone, but simply because that is pleasing to the Lord. But even when we treat everyone right, we will still have enemies. Jesus treated everyone with perfect righteousness, and yet, His enemies hated Him. You can always know a lot about a person by who his enemies are, because a man’s enemies are always his opposite in certain important respects.
