Verses 1-2 “1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)”

It is known that Caesar Augustus was emperor of Rome from 44 BC until AD 14. It has been discovered through archeology that Cyrenius’ governorship started in 4 BC. Jesus was probably born in 4 BC, right at the beginning of Cyrenius’ governorship. It was once disputed by the liberals that Cyrenius was ever a governor in Syria (Judaea was a district of Syria at that time) but archeology has proven Luke’s accuracy. It was once also denied by liberal scholars that there was such a taxing as Luke described. But once again archeology has proven Luke’s accuracy. It is significant that not a single archeological discovery has ever contradicted the Bible, but many of them have confirmed the Bible’s statements. Luke was an excellent historian and he always got his facts right. This means that you can trust your Bible!
