Matthew 27:1-2 “When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.”
What a sad commentary that ALL of the chief priests (past and present) and elders of Israel wanted to murder the Son of God! There was no exception, no one to stand against the hatred and extremism of these evil men. It raises the issue that religious leaders cannot be trusted to stand for the Lord.
