Verse 35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
Right in the middle of a discussion of future events, Jesus makes this unqualified statement about the eternal preservation of His Words. He wants us to know that all of His prophecies will be fulfilled, and our assurance of the fulfillment rests on the fact that His words as written in the Bible are inspired, inerrant, and accurately preserved to the very word that He spoke. All of the words of the Bible are Jesus’ words and all of those words are verbally preserved.
All of the words of Scripture have always been preserved, protected, and guarded by the Holy Spirit. Not one of those words has been lost. Every one of those words is found among the ancient language manuscripts. It was the responsibility of our Bible translators to find all of the preserved words of God among the manuscripts and accurately record them in English. We believe that that was done in AD1611. Obviously, the best manuscripts were those that had the text used by God’s people all through the centuries. The best text was not a new text discovered in just the last 200 years, otherwise the promise of Jesus to preserve His words would have been meaningless.
