Matthew 18:8-9 “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.”
There is real literal fire in hell. If it were not fire, it would have to be something worse. This means that we must take seriously the destiny of those who die without Christ. The universal salvation doctrine that is being promoted by some people today is a false, evil pipe-dream. That pipe-dream is rejected by the Word of God in a great many verses. Jesus was the greatest hell-fire and brimstone preacher who ever lived, and He did not lie.
