Matthew 10:9-11 “Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.”

The disciples were not to take money with them because God wanted them to live by faith, and because those who are called to preach the gospel should live from it.  This, no doubt, is still God’s will for us today.  The passage tells us that God provides for His preachers by using those who hear them, and that there is a special blessing and “peace” (v.13) for those hearers of the gospel who care for God’s preachers.
