Matthew 3:1  “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,”

Israel had not heard from God in about four hundred years, since Malachi wrote his prophecy in Malachi 3:1. Then came John! It was the greatest turning point in history, ever. John the Baptist was the greatest prophet ever. His ministry was reminiscent of that of Elijah.

John the Baptist was unusual in his preaching, unusual in his personal habits, unusual in his preparations, unusual in his pronouncements, unusual in his procedures, and unusual in his preferences. We must be careful that we do not reject a preacher’s message on the basis that he is unusual.
